The IPC Classroom opened in Osaka, Japan on January 20, 2006. This annual course was established in 2004 to train Japanese nurses and doctors from acute care hospitals regarding infection prevention and control practice. Forty-six nurses and one doctor are currently enrolled in the 78-hour course conducted in 6 sessions held on Friday and Saturdays of alternating months. Nancy Haberstich and her Japanese colleague, Mieko Urano, are course managers. Lectures are given by Haberstich and Urano and a guest faculty of 12 Japanese IPC experts. The course is sponsored by Medicon, Inc. of Japan. |
